Josh Kalis was born on April 27, 1976 in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he's also currently residing. When Transworld Skateboarding asked him what keeps him in Michigan he answered: "My house, my daughter and my wife." Kalis is often credited, along with others, to rejuvenate the skateboarding scene in Philadelphia, where he's been living for quite some time. He's one of the Love Park originals. "When I think of Josh Kalis a few words come to mind: professional, precise, and nice. Josh is 100-percent skateboarding. He applies himself to any given trick he does and succeeds in doing it. Some people say, "Good things come to those who wait," a truth that landed Josh on the DC team. You can see Josh skating at Love Park almost every day, searching for technical lines to be filmed, or even helping out little kids who are just starting to skate," says Ryan Gee to Transworld Skateboarding. Kalis has a notorious 360 flip and gets psyched by listening to Black Sabbath. He also like fast cars and brought the switch backside tailslide to Hubba Hideout. Josh is a street skateboarder to the core. He is known to have reinstated the pure street skating in Philly during the Love Park era in the 90s when so many street sessions went down. He is a husband, a father, and a bit of a car driver (yeah, I mean going fast).This guy is a part producer to most, and some others may be considered a magazine guy.
